Dalton did not divulge Carolina’s plans when he was brought in for the press conference that usually features Young on Thursday.when asked if he expected to start on Sunday. “We’ll see how it goes as the week goes on. With Bryce down right now, I’m getting the reps and preparing like I do every week.”“Whenever Bryce is healthy, you know he’s going to step right back in there,”“My goal is to win. Especially here, this is Bryce’s thing. I’m not here to make this a competition.
Dalton joined Carolina as a free agent in March to serve as a place-holder and mentor for whichever college quarterback the Panthers chose with the No. 1 pick. In his 13th NFL season, Dalton has 171 starts and three Pro Bowl selections. In his NFL debut, Young completed 20-of-38 passes for 146 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions and ran for 17 yards on three carries in aAgainst New Orleans, Young completed 22-of-33 passes for 153 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions and ran for 34 yards on three carries.
