Bryce Young will start at quarterback for the Panthers on Sunday against the Broncos after Andy Dalton sustained a sprained right thumb in Tuesday's car accident, coach Dave Canales said Wednesday.

Dalton, his wife, three children and dog were traveling west on Sardis Road near Providence Road about seven miles from Bank of America Stadium when the accident occurred. Coach Dave Canales said the hope is Dalton can be the backup Sunday at Denver.
