LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The provincial government seeks to plant one million trees and mangroves in strategic areas in Pangasinan within a year.
These narra, cashew, sugar apple , tamarind , jackfruit , coffee, and cacao seedlings were provided by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.
The tree-planting project aims to establish a culture of volunteerism among provincial government employees and was held in the Dasol Community Hospital, Malasiqui Sanitary Landfill, Barangay Doliman in Infanta, and Barangay Bantog in Asingan. During the first State-of-the-Province Address last March 27, Gov. Ramon V. Guico III encouraged all provincial government employees, local government units , line agencies, and various stakeholders to practice Filipino homegrown values “pagtutulungan” and “bayanihan” or the sense of solidarity.
The Green Canopy project, a cash-for-work program, was conducted in July in Barangay Santa Catalina, Binalonan; Barangays Don Matias, San Miguel, Ilio-Ilio, and Poblacion in Burgos; and Bolinao Salt Farm and Barangay Zaragoza in Bolinao.
