Palomar College locked down after unsubstantiated report of shooting in San Marcos [Breaking]

Palomar College was put on lockdown Monday night after sheriff’s deputies responded to multiple reports of a shooting at a nearby park in San Marcos that turned out to be unsubstantiated, authorities said.

The incident was reported around 7:45 p.m. at the Mission Sports Park on Bailey Court near Mission Road, and the school was put on lockdown as a precaution at 8:11 p.m., sheriff’s Lt. Michael Pepin said. Palomar College is located less than a mile from the sports park. Deputies who arrived at the scene did not find any victims or evidence of a shooting, Pepin said.The college remained in lockdown as of 9:30 p.m., said Julie Bandy, a spokesperson for the college.The incident is under investigation.
