Ahead of presenting his budget to the Palmer City Council, newly hired Palmer city manager Stephen Jellie suggested changes could be coming to how the city operates its police dispatch department.

“The Palmer dispatch right now has a number of vacancies, three vacancies of seven total positions,” Jellie said. “It’s a good opportunity for us to — a little faster than I would have liked — study that operation and determine if it’s something we want to continue or we want to make a transition to the larger regional dispatch center, typically called Mat-Com.”
