Ha-seong Kim has 14 total bases over last five games as Padres bat him sixth for the first time this season
Kim has six hits, including two homers and two doubles, over his last three games, lifting his batting line to .273/.373/.568 over his first 51 plate appearances.Kim is settling behind what’s become a de facto top-five against right-handed pitching the last four days: Trent Grisham , Jake Cronenworth , Manny Machado , Jurickson Profar and Eric Hosmer .
It’s what’s behind Kim that is different Saturday as the Padres look to set a new season-high with a fifth straight win. Matt Beaty is starting a fourth straight game in right field for the injured Wil Myers, Jorge Alfaro is behind the plate and Luis Campusano is getting his third start at designated hitter.
Beaty is hitting .080/.179/.160 in 28 plate appearances with the Padres and is 0-for-9 since taking over for Myers in right field.Here is Pittsburgh’s lineup:
