Padres beat Rockies 3-2 for first winning streak since April 29-May 1
Manny Machado collected three hits, Fernando Tatis Jr. gave the Padres the lead with a two-run single in the sixth and six pitchers deftly navigated nine innings at Coors Field in a 3-2 win over the Rockies.
The Padres entered the game with an MLB-worst three wins in one-run games and hadn’t earned once since April 19. The Padres’ first run scored on another slide at the plate, after Machado singled with two outs in the first. He was then off and running on Kyle Freeland’s 0-2 four-seamer to Gary Sanchez, was already at second base when a soft line drive split the left-center alley and was waved home as Jurickson Profar gathered the ball.
