The 75-year-old victim was rushed to George Washington University Hospital in critical condition but unfortunately died while there.
The incident took place shortly before 1:30 p.m. along the 1700 block of Constitution Avenue NW, near the National Mall in Washington D.C.
Secret Service officers tried to stop the driver for an expired registration at an intersection. The driver indicated they would stop, but suddenly took off and headed southbound along 17th Street Northwest. The driver then ran a red light, hitting three people in the crosswalk before getting away, according to reports.that the 75-year-old victim landed on the hood of the car. The driver then backed up, Sorour said, and ran over him again.
Authorities are in search of the suspect, who was driving a blue 2006 Honda Accord with Virginia tags 8718BE,
