A group of House Republicans gathered on Wednesday for a news conference to announce a resolution now awaiting House Judiciary Committee contains articles of impeachment to remove the Philadelphia chief prosecutor from office.
Pennsylvania House Republican lawmakers announced on Wednesday their intention to file articles of impeachment against Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, who they say has “tipped the scales of justice in favor of criminals.”second interim report
Senate Republican spokeswoman Erica Clayton Wright said her caucus shares the House leaders concerns “about how the crime crisis is affecting Philadelphia and the commonwealth as a whole.” In a statement, Krasner pointed out he won election a year ago by nearly 72% of the vote with support even higher in areas of Philadelphia most victimized by gun violence.
Benninghoff, however, called that “a political excuse … Criminals don’t sit there and look at the law and decide which one they are going to break.”
