Some P5.7 million worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride concealed in dress buttons were seized by authorities in Port of Clark in Pampanga.
The Bureau of Customs said the shipment carrying the drug paraphernalia arrived in the country on February 14 from Harare, Zimbabwe. It was declared to contain dresses, but upon physical examination, customs personnel recovered 838.68 grams of white crystalline substance inside 255 dress buttons and on the side walls of the carton boxes.
The samples were taken to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for chemical laboratory analysis and were confirmed to be shabu. “With the enhanced measures that we are currently implementing, we will not let these illegal drugs enter our borders and reach the public,” the agency said.
