Will an old flame spark new feelings for Lara Jean?

Things get a bit complicated, though. Lara Jean's love letters, which were sent to every boy she'd ever loved in the first film, come back to haunt her. She receives a handwritten love letter from John Ambrose McClaren, the boy she may have loved the most. While she tries to write him back, everything comes out wrong and too romantic. Lara Jean reminds herself that she has a boyfriend, and she shouldn't be thinking that way about someone else.
As time goes on, Lara Jean spends more time around John Ambrose. All the while, Peter is seeming less like the person she loves. On Valentine's Day, Lara Jean is upset that he doesn't send her carolers in class as he did for Jen, his ex-girlfriend and Lara Jean's ex-best friend. She also witnesses a flood of Valentine's notes fall from Peter's locker and begins to feel second best.
