Route 66, one of Overwatch 2's Escort maps, is getting a rework when Season 7 goes live.
Blizzard Entertainmentwhen Season 7 goes live is a rework to one of the game’s classic maps. Route 66 is in line for some updates, and not only the appropriately spooky-looking overcast lighting shown in the image above.Right out of the spawn room, attackers will have more cover from incoming fire, partly thanks to an open-for-business sign that’s by the main door. After the attackers make their way through the first checkpoint, the blast doors will no longer fully close.
The changes aren’t all in the attackers’ favor. There will be less cover in the final point, the Deadlock Gang’s stronghold. You’ll see less cargo to hide behind.Route 66 has long been one of my favorite maps, but players have definitely had some frustration with it over the years. On the surface, these sound like reasonable changes.
