The 134 sites correspond to Indigenous settlements that date to Roman occupation. A study detailing the findings published Tuesday in the journal Antiquity.Construction of Hadrian's Wall began in 122 AD in what is now northern England, and the wall was used to designate the northernmost boundary of the Roman Empire. As the ancient Romans expanded further, they built the Antonine Wall about 20 years later across what is now the center of Scotland.
