Welcome to live coverage of the 94th Academy Awards. We’ll be setting the table for tonight’s show with analysis of the big issues heading into this year’s Oscars ceremony from WSJ entertainment reporters John Jurgensen, Ellen Gamerman and Robbie Whalen. Jacob Gallagher and Rory Satran will weigh in on notable fashion moments on the red carpet, and we’ll share some of our best work on this year’s nominees.

This year, Oscars producers are making big changes in hopes of recapturing viewers’ attention, planning for a star-studded night of jokes, performances and reminders of film’s glory days for the 94th Academy Awards, which air tonight at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
After going hostless for three years, producers are now bringing on three hosts: Comedians Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes, plus actress Regina Hall, who will host the ceremony for the first time. Stars such as Beyoncé and Billie Eilish will perform–each is nominated for an award in the best original song category. Beyoncé is nominated for “Be Alive” from “King Richard”; Ms. Eilish is nominated, along with her brother, Finneas O’Connell, for “No Time to Die,” from the James Bond film of the same title.even though the song wasn’t nominated for an Oscar. Disney submitted another song from “Encanto” to be nominated called “Dos Oruguitas,” also written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Tributes are also planned for James Bond, with the celebration this year of the 60th anniversary of the franchise’s first movie, and “The Godfather,” a best picture that celebrates its 50th anniversary.
