The Orage County District Attorney's Office has contracted an expert to help identify vulnerabilities in their system after detecting a cyberattack.
Authorities received alerts about the security breach on Friday, Oct. 20. It's unclear whether the cyberattack was successful but an OCDA spokesperson said they took immediate action and shut down their system to 'prevent further intrusion.' The office emphasized that it uses 'the latest technology and sophisticated defenses' to prevent breaches. However, if one occurs, they will receive an alert.
The District Attorney's office has coordinated with law enforcement agencies, including the Orange County Sheriff's Department and FBI, to investigate the intrusion. In the meantime, the office heeded the advice of cybersecurity experts and isolated its network communications.
