During the pandemic, SeaWorld was not making money while still rescuing, feeding and caring for injured and orphaned critters.
“San Diego sues SeaWorld to recover rent that went unpaid during pandemic”I guess the city attorney thinks the city is in a good position in the dispute. However, she is not looking at the long-term interest between the parties. Mara Elliott is just focused on rent.
There has to be someone in San Diego — perhaps in the Mayor’s Office or in the business community — who sees this dispute from a different perspective and can weigh in. The relationship between the parties could be ruptured if the dispute goes into open court, which could have long-term implications.
If the city attorney thinks the city’s case is strong, then go to arbitration behind closed doors so both the city and SeaWorld can make their case and get a third-party opinion on the matter.
