San Diego wants to slash 90% of natural gas from all buildings by 2035 — but what’s the price tag?
” : Natural gas is the cleanest and most abundant combustible fuel source in the U.S. right now. Reduce its consumption last. First increase renewable energy sources to reduce SDG&E electric rates, while increasing the tax on all carbon dioxide-generating fuels, if you want to reduce their use. Then let private enterprise that made this country great take over and move to the least expensive solution to meet its needs.
The “city officials” who said all electric homes could lower utility bills are just plain incorrect. As usual our City Council is trying to solve a “problem” by making a bigger one. We almost ran out of electrical power this summer, and the council wants to add a large amount of new demand to the grid? That is backward thinking. Increase our electrical reserve first.Cost to taxpayers is the wrong question.
Decarbonization is a process with a time component. Naysayers seem not to get that. They say the transition will hurt the economy. Evidence contradicts this notion. Since the Great Recession, California’s GDP
