When I was a new, out-of-college social worker in the veteran division, one of the first things I had to do was tell disabled veterans that the Republican administration had cut their benefits. A few months later, the budget was reduced and I was laid off. That is the best thing the Republican Party did for me as it gave me courage to do the things I really wanted to do.
