Opinion: House Jan. 6 hearings draw mixed reaction as evidence mounts against Donald Trump [Opinion]
After seeing the pictures from Sri Lanka of people storming the government buildings and demanding the overthrow of the government, I can’t help but notice the similarities between Jan. 6 and Sri Lanka. The pictures could be juxtaposed and you could not tell the difference. As the Jan 6th hearings are showing, between the loser of the last presidential election, Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, Three Percenters, etc., this is exactly what they thought would occur in this country.
If Trump is re-elected, the checks and balances provided by our three branches of government will be diluted by appointees loyal only to the supreme leader. We know this because it already happened to a nearly irreversible point. $3 a gallon gas — not a problem. Abandon NATO and the Ukraine and he will saturate the U.S. with all the oil we want. Then we sink oil wells in our National Parks and along the California coast and the deed will be done.Investigations into the events of Jan. 6 have shown Trump knew he lost the election, solicited millions of dollars for a “Fight the Steal” committee that didn’t exist, and incited his mob of minions to attack the Capitol on Jan. 6.
