“We are excited to be expanding the project outside of Ontario,” said Sabri. “The long-term vision that we have for this project is to become national, so I’m hoping that this Saskatchewan trip will be the first of many trips in other provinces.”
“If a child cannot see well, they are set up for failure,” said Sabri. “We often see children who are sitting in a classroom and they’ve been labelled as ‘difficult’ — but then they come to see me at the clinic, and I find that they had poor vision, and nobody knew. So the reason the child is being ‘difficult’ is because they cannot see.Article content
To bring the ICEE project to Île-à-la-Crosse, Sabri collaborated with the Métis Nation—Saskatchewan , which identified the northern village as a place where few children have regular access to eye care.
