The poll from NBC News and The Wall Street Journal also asked if Americans think the outbreak is going to get worse, with 60 percent saying they think it will.
As cases of novel coronavirus increase worldwide, a new poll indicates that Americans aren't confident that President Donald Trump will deal with the pandemic., asked 900 registered voters -- including 438 Democratic primary voters -- about the ongoing outbreak. The poll has a margin of error of 3.27 percent.
Friday saw Trump also declare a national state of emergency, allowing the federal government to access funding and give aid to state and local governments. That partisan divide also extends to the approach by survey respondents regarding how they will handle the fallout from the growing number of COVID-19 cases. Sixty-eight percent of Democrats said they are concerned their family will contract the virus compared to 40 percent of Republicans.
