ATHERTON — It sure pays to have good neighbors, folks you can call in a pinch to save the day.A power outage turned the Atherton school’s gym dark early in the third quarter of its NorCal Division I boys basketball quarterfinal against Oakland Tech.
Sacred Heart Prep and Oakland Tech made the two-minute drive down Valparaiso Ave., warmed up and finished a bizarre night after an 80-plus minute delay. “Wishing everyone who was in those blackouts that they’re safe and healthy and a big thank you to Menlo, our rival. Pretty funny. Big thank you to them and their administrators for letting us come to play here. And a huge thank you to Mr. Quattlebaum, our head of students, and our AD, Mr. Rodriguez, for figuring this all out. I know it was a stressful night.”
