Centered on a 13-foot-tall Black man in Oakland, California, the series from creator Boots Riley utilizes a blend of forced perspective, multiple sets, and life-like dolls for its protagonist Cootie's adventure out into the real world, along with a variety of other practical tricks.
In honor of the show's upcoming release, Screen Rant spoke exclusively with stars Olivia Washington and Kara Young to discuss I'm a Virgo, Riley's ability to create "complex universes" and the show's mind-boggling practical effects. Kara Young: Yeah, actually everything Olivia said, as if I said it, because that's absolutely accurate as well, for me. [Laughs]
But how was it? It was like I was a kid again! It was like I was just sparking my inner child and imagination when acting, Jharrel was either away, or behind the doll, or in the vicinity, or we were on earpieces connecting that way.
