Ohio State football receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. became the 10th first-round pick of the Ryan Day era.
Marvin Harrison Jr., long expected by many to be the first receiver off the board in the 2024 NFL Draft, fulfilled that projection Thursday night.
While several Buckeye receivers have been selected inside the top 10, none had been drafted higher than Terry Glenn’s No. 7 in 1996. Harrison became the fourth OSU receiver drafted in the top 20 picks in the past four years. He joined Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave in 2022 and Jaxon Smith-Njigba last year.
For the first time since 2021, quarterbacks were taken with the top three picks. USC’s Caleb Williams went to the Chicago Bears at No. 1, followed by LSU’s Jayden Daniels to the Washington Commanders and North Carolina’s Drake Maye to the New England Patriots. Harrison’s father became one of the stars of the Indianapolis Colts’ great teams of the late 1990s and early 2000s. The son chased those standards, and it helped him develop the worth ethic which became almost mythical at Ohio State.
