Paul Rhoads is leaving Ohio State after one season as a defensive analyst to become the defensive coordinator at Gulf Shores High School in Alabama.

Rhoads had been at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center and continuing to work with the Buckeyes as recently as Monday, when Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles said Rhoads had been a resource to him as he started familiarizing himself with the Buckeyes’ defensive personnel.Overhauling Ohio State’s Defensive Coaching Staff A Tough But Necessary Decision for Ryan Day

Now, though, Rhoads – who has been a college football coach since 1989, including a head coaching stint at Iowa State from 2009-15 – is heading to Gulf Shores, Alabama, where he joins a highly qualified high school coaching staff led by former Austin Peay head coach Mark Hudspeth.
