State Rep. Scott Wiggam, a Wooster Republican seen in this Ohio House photo, has apologized to state Sen. Niraj Antani after telling a University of Akron student club that Antani opposes the death penalty because “he’s an Indian" and "they won’t even kill cows.

State Rep. Scott Wiggam, a Wooster Republican, made the comments at a meeting of the Turning Point USA club at the University of Akron on Feb. 6. A video of the meeting, uploaded to YouTube by the conservative-leaning club, shows Wiggam talking about why state Sen. Niraj Antani, a Dayton-area Republican and the first Indian-American to serve in the Ohio Senate, has sought to repeal the state’s death penalty.
