Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted are set to discuss an act that aims to force certain social media companies to get verifiable parental consent for children under 16 years old.

The Social Media Parental Notification Act would require certain online companies such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and others to include that parental consent as part of their terms of service before letting teens and children use their platforms, the governor's office said. Gov. DeWine and Lt. Gov. Husted will be joined on Monday at 10 a.m. by the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation and the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services to talk about the act and other mental health priorities included in the state budget.
