Arlene Brosas, House Assistant Minority Leader, demands investigation into the case of OFW Jenny Sanchez Alvarado, whose remains were mistakenly identified and potentially swapped with those of a Nepali domestic worker who also died in Kuwait. The incident has caused significant emotional distress to Alvarado's family and raises serious questions about protocol lapses by the DMW and Philippine Embassy in Kuwait.
House Assistant Minority Leader and Gabriela Women’s Party Representative Arlene Brosas has called for a comprehensive investigation into the case of overseas Filipino worker ( OFW ) Jenny Sanchez Alvarado, whose remains were allegedly mistakenly identified and swapped with those of a Nepali domestic worker who also died in Kuwait . Brosas expressed deep concern over this incident, stating that it represents a grave disrespect to the dignity of OFW s and their families.
'This is a grave insult to the dignity of our OFWs and their families. How did it happen that the body of a Nepali national was brought home to the Philippines while the Alvarado family was waiting for their mother?' Brosas stated in a mixture of English and Filipino. She emphasized the need for accountability from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait for this serious lapse in protocol. Brosas highlighted the profound emotional distress experienced by Alvarado's husband and five children, who only discovered the wrong remains when opening the casket at a funeral home in Cavite. 'We demand answers from the DMW and our embassy officials. Where did Jenny's remains go? Why is the identification process flawed? This negligence is unacceptable and someone must be held accountable,' she added. Brosas also raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding the deaths of three domestic workers, including Alvarado, who reportedly died of suffocation on January 2. She called for a thorough investigation into these deaths, ensuring there was no foul play involved.
