A police sergeant working at a mall jumped into action when a call came over the radio that a man was near the Macy’s store with a rifle.
HOUSTON - A Houston police sergeant who thwarted a possible mass shooting at a mall while working his extra job is being called a hero.
“I definitely know what I signed up for 20 years ago when I decided to get into this profession,” Simpo said. Herrera was wearing a shirt with the Punisher logo and a leather mask with spikes. He was carrying a rifle in one hand and a Bible in the other. Moments later, other officers arrived, and Herrera was arrested without a single shot fired. Besides the rifle and Bible, police found 120 rounds of ammunition and a handgun on him.
