The scammer convinced the man that nearly $70,000 was "accidentally" transferred and asked him to "wire back" $68,000.In February, Marc Beardsley was tricked into wiring $68,000 of his own money overseas after a large sum of money appeared in his Wells Fargo checking account.
Beardsley said the scammer had gained access to his account and transferred money from his savings account into his checking. "He was worried," said Nesler. "He did not check the savings account to see that it was actually our money ... $70,000 was our money."
