Filipino pole vaulter Ernest John 'EJ' Obiena is now focused on the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, after claiming silver in the Eugene Diamond League finals in the United States over the weekend.

At Eugene's Hayward Field, Swedish-American Armand Duplantis continued to dominate the tournament, by setting a new world record by clearing at the height of 6.23 meters.Obiena was able to clear 5.82 meters for the silver.Americans Sam Kendricks and Chris Nilsen and Australian Kurtis Marschall each cleared at 5.72 meters, but based on final counts, Kendricks clinched the bronze medal.

Obiena shared a photo with his pole vaulting peers on his Instagram on Monday.'We are gearing for the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China,' he wrote.The world number two in the pole vault is the favorite to win the event in the upcoming Asiad.The current Games record is being held by defending champion Seito Yamamoto of Japan, which is at 5.70 meters, which was enough to win him the gold medal at the previous Asian Games in Indonesia.
