OAKLAND – Authorities on Tuesday announced the arrest of a 19-year-old man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run nearly a month ago in East Oakland’s Fairfax neighborhood.
Police said the victim, identified as 58-year-old Oakland resident Santu Maya, was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a driver in a silver Mercedes-Benz.The suspect, who lives near the scene of the collision, was arrested in the city, and the car he was driving at the time of the collision was found in another city, police said.Staff writer Harry Harris contributed to this report.
