An Oakland Fire Department firefighter injured while battling a West Oakland apartment blaze last week was released from a hospital earlier this week, authorities said.

Jenn Mathis was one of at least three firefighters who suffered smoke inhalation and other injuries while battling aFeb. 15 that damaged more than a dozen units in a West Oakland apartment building. Two other civilians were also injured.

Mathis, who has spent seven years working in Oakland, was released Wednesday from Saint Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco, Oakland Fire Department spokesman Michael Hunt said Friday evening. On the day of her release, Mathis drew public support from local officials and firefighters from her own and other public safety departments, some of whom wore pink this week to honor her strength and recovery.On Wednesday 2/23/22 we will be showing solidarity for Jenn Mathis and the rest of OFD, by wearing pink socks, just like Jenn was the day of the incident.
