Oakland Athletics flame-throwing prospect Mason Miller to make MLB debut vs. Cubs
The A’s, 3-14 heading into Tuesday night’s game, have lost their last five games, 11 of the last 12 and 14 of their last 16 games.
Miller also missed much of last year with a shoulder injury that did not require surgery and while in college five years ago he was having health issues — dropping to 150 pounds — and was diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic.“It’s my normal,” Miller said. “it’s not something I consciously think about.
“The stuff is real, the velocity is real, the breaking ball is good,” Kotsay said. “The fact that in Triple-A he went in there and threw strikes and dominated the strike zone and had that much success is impressive.” Miller had no target date on reaching the majors but as a Pittsburgh native, had taken note of a three-game series on the road against the Pirates on June 5-7. He was a fan of Pittsburgh teams that included Andrew McCutchen and Gerrit Cole.
