A rep for the restaurant blamed the closure on a “clerical error” that resulted in doors temporarily shutting Monday afternoon.

A sign posted to Casa Cruz’s front door on East 61st Street and seen by Page Six shows the hotspot and its public restaurant were shuttered on Jan. 30 “for operating without a permit” by order of the Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene. A Page Six spy tells us that upon walking by late Monday afternoon, they spotted people inside the restaurant, so it may not be a permanent closure.
“Due to a clerical error in the permitting paperwork, Casa Cruz was temporarily closed yesterday afternoon,” a rep for the restaurant tells Page Six.
