Starting Monday, the minimum wage for app-based food delivery workers bumps up to $19.56 per hour, before tips.

NEW YORK -- New York City delivery workers are getting a pay raise as their minimum wage increases.Mayor Eric Adams spoke about the raises Monday, alongside delivery workers and advocates at City Hall. 'When you pick up the phone and you call for Uber Eats, it did not fall out of the sky from the food god. It came from these men and women who are behind me,' Adams said. 'They deliver to you, they make sure that you are able to provide for your family.

''We will continue to fight and stand firm for our families and to make sure that our work has rights and dignity,' said one of the workers in Spanish. 'Earning more means more income for us to cover our rent, food and being able to support our families.'The city increased wages for these workers last year, and this raise marks the next phase and an adjustment for inflation. Once it is fully phased in next year, workers will earn at least $19.96 an hour.
