The National Weather Service is predicting a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms, accompanied by strong wind gusts and potentially hail larger than 2 inches.
Strong to severe storms with the potential for hail and damaging winds are in the forecast Saturday afternoon and tonight for the South Central Texas area, according to the National Weather Service.and hail forming over South Central Texas this afternoon and evening.
Hail, potentially larger than 2 inches, and damaging wind gusts surpassing 60 mph are the “primary risks” tonight, the weather service said. The southern portions of the Hill Country, including Boerne and New Braunfels, and the northern part of San Antonio face a marginal risk of severe weather, while cities farther north like Fredericksburg and Austin are at a “slight risk” — one level higher“Thunderstorms are expected to develop in the vicinity of a dryline to our north and could move into the Hill Country by the mid to late afternoon, moving southeast through the evening,” according to the NWS’ situation report released early...
The greatest likelihood for storms developing is between 5 p.m. and midnight, the weather service said.
