The National Weather Service in Mobile has confirmed two tornadoes that touched down in Mobile County during severe weather outbreaks on Friday and Saturday.
The National Weather Service in Mobile has released preliminary survey findings confirming two tornadoes that impacted portions of Mobile County during the recent severe weather outbreak s on Friday and Saturday. These storms, part of a multiple-day severe weather event, brought strong winds, heavy rainfall and tornadoes across the Gulf Coast. Additional surveys are planned in the coming days as damage assessments continue and findings are finalized.
The most significant tornado confirmed so far was an EF1 tornado in Mobile County near Dees, associated with Friday’s marginal risk of severe weather. This tornado caused considerable damage along its path before dissipating near Southern Oaks Trail and Dawes Road.The second confirmed tornado occurred during the the severe weather event. This EF0 tornado was very brief but caused damage near Faustinas, eventually moving over Mobile Bay.These two tornadoes are part of the preliminary findings from the storm surveys conducted by NWS Mobile. Given the widespread reports of damage from both Friday’s and Saturday night’s severe weather, additional tornado confirmations are likely in the coming days. Residents who experienced damage are encouraged to report it to the NWS Mobile.
