NuPhy is rapidly gaining a reputation for making some of the most interesting and innovative keyboards on the market with its highly acclaimed NuPhy Air and Halo mechanical models. Now the brand has upped the stakes with the launch of the new Gem80 mechanical keyboard , possibly the company’s best product yet. This 88-key, ANSI 80% TKL model is the result of extensive research and development.
The second problem was sound. Fans of mechanical keyboards love the sounds they make, but the combination of a polycarbonate base and most types of insulating foam used in keyboards could seriously impact the kind of noise the keys make. After a lengthy search, NuPhy found some low COR poron foam and special IXPE switch pads which means the Gem80 makes one of the most satisfying “thonk” sounds you’ll ever hear from a mechanical keyboard.
The case of the Gem80 is made from CNC-machined 6063 aluminum and blasted with 0.09mm zircon sands for a superfine finish. The case can be ordered in Cosmic Mocha, Mystic Indigo, Obsidian Black, Airy Lilac and Inca Rose. The colors have an iridescent metallic finish that looks spectacular.
