'They stole my damn cat!'
How did Nubbins the cat make its way from Sonoma to Long Beach, two cities approximately 432 miles apart by car?a couple staying at an Airbnb rental allegedly took the tabby cat with the nubby tail — hence the name — down to Southern California, where it has remained for more than two months.
The details laid out in the Index-Tribune surrounding Nubbins’ disappearance are peculiar. Its owner, Troy Farrell, was out of town for Thanksgiving weekend. From the looks of it, Nubbins was already an independent kitty, becoming a familiar presence in the community, so Farrell wasn’t too concerned when she was gone.A neighbor’s strange interaction with the visiting couple was the first red flag, the Index-Tribune reported.
And it wasn’t until a veterinarian from Long Beach made a phone call to Farrell that he found out where she had gone. “They stole my damn cat!” Farrell told the Index-Tribune. “They then took that cat to the vet in LA and the vet said, ‘This is not your cat. What's going on?’”
