NU blanks La Salle, one win away from championship
National University blanked De La Salle University , 25-20, 25-12, 25-21, in Game One of the Finals to move one win closer from sweeping and winning the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 84 women's volleyball at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday.Drawing MVP chants from the Lady Bulldogs' fans, Bella Belen led the dominating NU side with 15 points on top of 13 excellent receptions.
Camilla Lamina tossed 20 excellent sets while Jennifer Nierva logged six digs.In control of the first two sets, the Lady Bulldogs had to fend off the Lady Spikers in the third who got within two, 20-22, following a Fifi Sharma attack.Solomon, however, unleashed back-to-back hits for a 24-22 lead. La Salle scored one more point before Belen rose for an off the block kill to seal the win for NU.Leila Cruz punched in six points to pace La Salle.
