The world’s biggest maker of diabetes drugs is pinning its growth hopes on a relatively new treatment for type 2 diabetes and obesity that helps reduce blood sugar levels and weight. Sales of its newest drug in the so-called GLP-1 drug class, a once-a-week injection branded as Ozempic, rose to 1.4 billion crowns in the quarter, trumping forecasts of 1.3 billion crowns.
The company posted a quarterly operating profit of 14.2 billion crowns, above an average 13.2 billion crowns forecast in a Reuters poll of analysts..
