Someone was arrested by police in the Hill Country city and accused of trying to sell fake gold to a local business.
. On Monday, the department issued a"fraud alert" following an arrest of a suspect it says attempted to sell counterfeit gold to a local business.
"Fortunately, the business had the means to check before buying," police wrote in a social media post."If you bought gold recently, we recommend you take it to a reputable jeweler to ensure it's the real thing." While police said to not bring them gold for verification, as they lack the means to verify it, they said if a jeweler does recognize purchased gold as counterfeit, bring it to the department.
