“We want to make roadways safe for those traveling — and also for our first responders, making sure they can respond to emergencies, make their way to critical infrastructure, like area hospitals,” Lowman said. When comparing the entire city to the week before and after the total eclipse, Nashville saw a 35% bump above expected visitation levels. When focused on visitors beyond 50 miles, the bump was almost 70% above expected without the eclipse.
Although he didn’t have an updated number of potential visitors to Plano, he said hotel bookings show the city at about 65% capacity.
