The US and its allies are concerned that the revival of Moscow's friendship with Pyongyang could allow North Korea to gain sensitive technology for its missile program, though Russia has said it abides by all UN sanctions resolutions
MOSCOW, Russia – North Korean leader Kim Jong-un inspected a sanctioned fighter jet plant in Russia on Friday, September 15, as part of athat the United States and its allies fear could strengthen Russia’s military in Ukraine and bolster Pyongyang’s missile program.
“Kim Jong-un and Denis Manturov inspected the fighter aircraft assembly plant and the final assembly shop of the Su-35 aircraft and the fifth-generation Su-57 aviation complex,” the government said. “We have demonstrated to the leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea one of our leading aircraft production facilities,” Manturov said. “We see the potential for cooperation both in the field of aircraft construction and in other industries.”
The US State Department said on Wednesday that the Biden administration “won’t hesitate” to impose additional sanctions on Russia and North Korea if they conclude new arms deals.
