At the Laging Handa briefing, NCRPO chief Police Major General Felipe Natividad said police personnel would still be deployed to different areas to ensure the security of both occasions.

“So far po, wala naman po tayong, we did not receive any threat. Wala po tayong nabalitaan na ganyan pero at the same time we are not [letting] our guards [down],” he said. However, Natividad warned the public of possible incidents of robbery which he said is common during these occasions.Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police has reported a total of 2,482 persons arrested due to violation of the election gun ban as of Monday. A total of 1,909 firearms were confiscated.

Under Resolution No.10728, the Commission on Elections prohibits the bearing, carrying, or transporting of firearms or deadly weapons outside residence and in all public places from January 9 until June 8. —
