Anchorage police are responding to two separate incidents in Downtown Anchorage that may impede Iditarod fans trying to get downtown.
A short time later, Anchorage police posted that at 7:40 a.m., they responded alongside Anchorage Fire Department to a report of a building that had collapsed near 570 Ingra St.
“6th Avenue is closed between Gambell and Karluk,” police wrote. “Ingra is closed from 5th to 7th. Please use alternate routes.” Anchorage Police Department Community Relations Specialist Cherie Zajdzinski reported that neither incident involved any Iditarod participants. “Both incidents will have the area closed for quite some time ” Zajdzinski wrote. “Neither have anything to do with the race. Just unfortunate timing that they are both in that area.”
