Texas will now await the winner of Saturday night’s tilt between No. 12 Kansas State and Kansas. If the Jayhawks can pull off the road upset, the Longhorns will face No. 4 TCU in next Saturday's Big 12 championship game at AT&T Stadium. The Longhorns managed to shrug off that spotty start, stringing together a crisp seven-play, 75-yard scoring drive capped by Ewers’ 3-yard touchdown run. Then Texas took advantage of a short field following an 11-yard punt, with Robinson cruising into the end zone from two yards out to give Texas a 14-9 lead late in a madcap opening quarter.
Whittington made amends with a hard-nosed 19-yard catch-and-run deep into Baylor territory. Johnson finished that drive off, fighting, twisting and extending the ball past the goal line for a 1-yard touchdown to put Texas up 24-19.
