Expressway operator Nlex Corp. said on Sunday it is spending P282.5 million to improve its electronic toll collection and traffic management systems, as it seeks to “transform customer experience” along its thoroughfares.

Luigi L. Bautista, the company’s president and general manager, said the initiatives include the upgrading of various servers and the installation of new radio frequency identification antennas and speed cameras.

“These enhancements are part of the company’s thrust in providing safer and more convenient journeys along with the drive for continuous innovation and customer service excellence,” he said. Trucks and buses have a speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour when using the expressway, while cars are allowed up to 100 kph. Traffic officers use real-time data from the cameras to flag down those going beyond the maximum speed limit. Various servers at Nlex-Sctex will also be upgraded for improved performance and reliability, Bautista added.
