The NFL and NFLPA have agreed to make changes to the league’s concussion protocols.

The changes come after questions were raised over Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa being cleared to return to play after stumbling and looking wobbly during a game against the Bills on Sept. 25. Four days later, Tagovailoa was taken to the hospital following another blow to the head in a game against the Bengals in which he was diagnosed with a concussion.According to ESPN
, the two sides agreed that upon investigation the outcome of that case is not what the protocols were put in place for and will be modified to enhance player safety. The players association fired the unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant who evaluated Tagovailoa earlier this week.“We understand some of that chatter, but the reality is the protocols are really important,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said at a fan event in London early on Saturday. “We follow that strictly.
